If you live in Los Angeles year round, or someplace that doesn't get snow, you might find yourself craving a white Christmas.  There are hundreds of places to visit for beautiful snow on Christmas morning, but Alaska is one place that can be extra special. 

When I was making the decision to holiday in Alaska for Christmas, I had two states left to visit in the US in order to have been to all 50.  Alaska was number 49.  I really wanted a white Christmas, to see the northern lights, to understand glaciers up close and personal, and to experience what it's like to watch the sun rise at 10 am and start setting at 3 pm.  The latitude of both Anchorage and Fairbanks amazed me.  And the added bonus?  Winter is of course the off season for tourists in Alaska.  So, the prices of places like hotels were cut in more than half!  With that cherry on top and the aforementioned reasons, a trip to Alaska was booked.
