Le Style - A commentary

Merriam-Webster defines the simple definitions of Style as:
: a particular way in which something is done, created, or performed
: a particular form or design of something
: a way of behaving or of doing things
Iris Apfel was quoted saying, “There’s no how-to road map to style. It’s about self-expression and, above all, attitude.” AND “Fashion you can buy, but style you possess.”
If I could bottle up the magical sentiments of Iris Apfel and sprinkle them every where I traveled, I would do it in a heart-beat. Iris, presently in her 90’s, an incomparable fashion icon from Astoria, Queens is a business woman and very successful interior designer, known for restoration projects in the White House (yes, think Jackie O). And being absolutely, unapologetically fabulous.
I internalize her quotes and spirit to be inspirational, reassuring and plain perfection. I believe, underneath it all, when it’s all stripped down, there is a sense of joie de vivre, self-respect and wonder that every person has a touch of, and can take with them every where and every day.
Imagine taking in beauty in everything you see, letting go of judgements (of yourself and others), and expressing yourself freely. Imagine honoring your interests, seeing yourself as limitless, and sharing your gifts with the everyone around you. In my estimation, the more in touch with your sense of self, the more room there is to live in a big way. And that, to me, is the essence of style. Whatever it is you want to cover yourself in, go for it. Express. Have fun. Be unbounded.
The more we embrace our quirks, the more we free each other. And live more colorfully in the process.
